STAR of Coastal Georgia Announces Appointment of Donna Davis as PRESIDENT & CEO
A distinguished community leader and lifelong advocate for workforce development, Davis steps into this role with more than three decades of executive leadership, community engagement, and strategic growth experience.
Davis succeeds Dr. Rick Townsend, who was re-elected to his second term as Georgia State Representative for House District 179. Rick will continue to serve on STAR’s Board of Directors, ensuring his steadfast support for the organization’s mission of changing lives through education and training. “I have dedicated my life to education and service, and while I am focused on representing my constituents at the Capitol, I will stay engaged with STAR as we continue to provide exceptional programs to our students,” says Townsend.
Davis’s connection to STAR is deeply personal. From its founding in 1996, an initiative launched by her father, Don McGlamory, then Director of the Brunswick Housing Authority, in partnership with Dataline owners Ellen Murphy, Katie and Wally Orrel—Davis, has been an advocate of STAR’s mission. What began as a program offering computer training for public housing residents has grown into a cornerstone of workforce readiness in Coastal Georgia. Today, STAR of Coastal Georgia has empowered more than 1,800 adults with employment-readiness courses, computer bootcamps for seniors, teen financial literacy classes, and interview/life-skills training.
“Donna Davis embodies the heart and vision of STAR,” said the organization’s Board of Directors Chairman, Quin Wright. “Her connection to STAR, proven leadership and passion for service uniquely position her to guide STAR into its next chapter of impact. With Davis at the helm, STAR of Coastal Georgia is poised to expand its reach and continue building pathways to brighter futures for individuals and families across the region.”
Throughout her career, Davis has served in high-profile leadership roles, including Director of Marketing/Community Affairs & Insurance Advisor for Oakbridge Insurance, a Top 100 Insurance Brokerage in the US, and Executive Director of the American Red Cross Southeast Chapter. She has also held influential volunteer leadership positions, serving as Past Chair of STAR of Coastal Georgia, Chair of the Brunswick Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce, member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Chair Elect of the St. Simons Island Rotary. A 1998 Leadership Glynn graduate and a YWCA Woman of the Year honoree, Davis is widely recognized as a strategy-oriented leader who fosters collaboration and builds strong organizational cultures.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Donna is fueled by her unwavering passion for the Lord, her devotion to family, and her love for the Coastal Georgia community. Donna is a native of Glynn County, is married with two children, and resides on St Simons Island.
