Our Training Programs Work.

STAR of Coastal Georgia offers a variety of programs designed to fit into different people's needs and timeframes. Our training ranges from multiple-week, comprehensive instruction to 2-hour workshops. Although each course's main focus varies, students also learn important aspects throughout the class, such as goal setting, problem solving, conflict resolution, and education achievement. Those individuals residing in public housing may qualify for required community service hours. Please inquire when registering for a course.

In addition to our regularly scheduled workshops and courses, we offer additional instruction on special topics of interest. Employment Readiness Program

Over 4 weeks (Monday through Thursday mornings, 8:30 AM-11:30 AM), students will learn office professionalism and workplace ethics, interview techniques and job search methods, computer literacy and software skills, goal setting and problem solving, money management and conflict resolution, and public speaking, among other valuable skills. ERP takes place at STAR's offices in downtown historic Brunswick.

Students who complete ERP are welcome to return by appointment for "refresher" content and resume-writing assistance.

Financial Literacy Workshops

This workshop is essential to those who seek to learn the basics of financial literacy. Students will learn the fundamentals of budgeting, basic investing, major purchasing, and more. This workshop is offered at no charge and takes place in various locations in Brunswick and St. Marys, GA. Specific dates may be age-specific (i.e., for seniors). Workshops are offered throughout the year; check our calendar below for a current schedule.

Computer Skills Workshops

STAR offers different levels of our computer skills training: Computer Basics & Navigation Workshop, for those who need to learn the fundamentals of computer navigation, and Computer Intermediate Skills Workshop. In addition, we offer computer literacy workshops specifically for adults ages 55 and older. Computer workshops are offered at no charge and take place in various locations in Brunswick, as well as St. Marys, GA.
