Administrative Assistant
Part-time Position: 15-20 hours/week
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
STAR of Coastal Georgia seeks a dedicated and organized part-time administrative assistant to support its mission of empowering underserved individuals in our local community with the skills they need through education and training. STAR, a non-profit organization based in Brunswick, provides training programs in topics such as job skills, financial literacy, and computer training. The ideal candidate will provide operational support in administration, donor relations and special events. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work under tight deadlines with little supervision. He/she must have utmost consideration for confidentiality.
Major Responsibilities
• Provide administrative support for organization’s operations, including filing, correspondence, and purchasing supplies
• Serve as primary point of contact for organizing fundraising events, including planning, coordination, promotion, and mailings
• Support donor relations and grant activities, including maintaining accurate records and correspondence
• Provide administrative assistance and prepare presentations for Executive Director
• Assist in preparing for Board of Directors meetings, take meeting minutes and distribute follow-up information to Directors
• Develop electronic and print marketing materials, maintain social media channels and communicate through physical and electronic newsletters and mailings.
• Maintain and update organization’s website, including electronic class calendar, programming and fundraising efforts
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Nonprofit background highly desirable
• Experience in marketing and marketing programs, such as Canva and MailChimp
• Experience in social media channels, such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
• Experience in event planning preferred
• Familiarity with donor management systems, preferably DonorView software
• Familiarity with grant processes preferred
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent work ethic a must
• At least two (2) years of experience in the field or related area
• High school diploma required; college degree preferred
